Morning all! Sorry I've not been blogging the last couple of days but I've been busy with other things. I don't have a card today but I do have 3 samples I've made for a Golden Wedding. Friends of ours are celebrating later this year and I was asked if I'd make the invitations. I'm going to get them ready to go in the post on Monday as they live in the south of England. Which one do you like best? Let's see if it matches the one our friends choose!

My granddaughter got on fine at the dentist. Her teeth came out no problem and she had a small filling done too. She doesn't need to go back for 6 months and hopefully by that time her teeth will have evened themselves out a bit otherwise it's railtracks. She doesn't mind that though as it would seem it's COOL to have them these days!

I'm just going to put my coat on and go to meet my daughter. It's ages since we did lunch and had a proper catch up. Hope you all have a lovely day.

Hi, early on the go this morning as I'm off out for lunch with my friend then I've to take my granddaughter to the dentist for her second lot of extractions. Thankfully once she's done today that's her finished for a wee while as the dentist is going to have to wait to see if her adult teeth fall into the spaces or if she's going to need railtracks. Once finished at the dentist my granddaughter is coming home with me and staying the night. Mr C is working till midnight so we're going to have a quiet evening to let her get over the trauma, wonder what time she'll be asleep tonight?

Apologies for the poor photo quality as outside it's grey, miserable and a wee bit sleet in the air ... deep joy ... roll on Spain!

Hi! My Aunt called me at the weekend and asked if I'd make a special card for her friend who has just been blessed with her first great grandchild. I rustled one up last night and took it to her today. We had lunch then, as it's been such a miserable day, decided to have a clear out of her craft things ... you know what's coming ... I came home with a heap of things! It's so foggy here tonight I can hardly see to the other side of the street so let's hope that it's going to be better tomorrow. At least we didn't have the snow that was forecast for today.

Hi! What a brilliant day my friend and I had yesterday. I bought enough card stock in Southfields to keep me going for a while and also some Christmas stuff which was in the sale! After that we went to Dobbies and had lunch. When we came out of there it was blowing a blizzard but decided to go to the Gyle shopping centre where it doesn't snow! We had a good rummage round there and it was nice to see the new season's clothes coming into the shops. The colours are so vibrant and makes you think Spring might be just around the corner. We then had a coffee and headed home. My friend is coming up to my house tomorrow afternoon and we're have a crafty time.

The card I've made today didn't end up the way it started in my mind - do you know the feeling! Unfortunately the base paper doesn't show up very well on the screen. It's pale cream with lovely roses on it.

An early post as I'm off with my friend to Southfield Stationers to buy some card and crafty supplies. There's a huge Dobbies near to it so I've no doubt we'll pop in there and partake of some lunch!!!

My granddaughter got on fine at the dentist yesterday. Four injections and two extractions but she was a star. It's a lady dentist she has and she thinks she's the bees knees so that makes it easier for her. I got a text from my daughter about 8 o'clock to say my granddaughter was in bed, sound asleep. She's not been that early since she was about 6 so it must have taken its toll, bless. Only thing is, we've to go through it again next week ... aaaah.

The postman came bearing parcels yesterday and I couldn't wait to use the new stash that was in them!!! Sympathy cards are never easy to make and I thought my new dies were just perfect for a simple card. Hope you like!

Mr C is working today so I'm going to get the ironing done and after school I've to take my granddaughter to the dentist. She's almost 14 but still has 4 baby teeth that refuse to come out and are making her adult teeth crooked. The time has come for them to be taken out so it's two out today and the other two next week. I'm not looking forward to it and I bet neither is she! I'll keep you posted.

Well, well, there goes my first and only resolution - not to be posting at the weekend!!! I didn't post yesterday as Mr C and I went to visit my aunt. Unfortunately she has another break in her back and has to go to see the Consultant on Tuesday. She was in fine spirits though and we had a lovely time with her.

I'm having a lazy day today. Mr C was working till midday and is now having a sleep as we are off out tonight for a meal with all his cousins.

Hi folks! I had a lovely day yesterday with my friend. We hopped on the bus to Dundee and met my friend's sister, had a look round the shops then had lunch. It was a freezing cold wind and the as the shops were pretty rubbish we headed off to bingo to see if we could win our fortune. Just a Note ...

Thanks to those who sent well wishes for my Aunt. The x-ray went much better that she expected. She has osteoporosis and her movement is quite restricted and very painful at the moment but, as usual, she bounced back. Quite a few years ago she had 'cement' put into her spine as there were a couple of breaks caused by the disease and the consultant thinks that's happened again, hence the reason for the x-ray. At 83 she is an inspiration, never complains and is ALWAYS 'fine' no matter how she feels. I hope, if I get to that age, I will be the same.

I've also made a decision. This year I'm going to try to blog each week day and have the weekends off. Perhaps that way I won't feel so fed up with crafting the way I did last year as I really do, on the whole, enjoy crafting and of course keeping up with all my blogging buddies who kept me going in 2011 when Mr Mojo deserted me.

I am now going to get Mr C out of bed so we can have brekkie. We are off to see our son and DIL this afternoon. They have a huge garden with lots of trees and experienced BIG problems last week during the storms. They had no electricity for 4 days as trees fell and tangled up the power lines. They also had to take the chain saw out and cut up another tree that fell right across their drive so they could get to work. The joys of country living!

I'm late on the go tonight again. I've been out most of the day with my daughter as she's back to work tomorrow. Morning! The television was so rubbish last night that I popped upstairs to the craft room and did some creating. There are still a lot of Christmas challenges on the go so here's the first one for this year! Pink Petticoat have a sale on just now so a few things fell into my cart. I was itching to use them so this was a perfect 'excuse'. Today I'm going to get the house back to normal and the Christmas decorations packed away for another year. Hi! I managed to grab a few hours to myself today so I've been crafting and started watching Series 1 of Downton Abbey on DVD. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Mr C and I spent it with our daughter and her family and we had a great time. Santa was so good to all of us, we're very lucky. Although it's not New Year yet I've made a resolution ... I visited my aunt yesterday and one of her friends sent her a handmade calendar with her Christmas card so I though I'd make one for my friend. I'm going to meet her tomorrow for coffee and exchange pressies. I hope she likes it!

I've been a very, very bad blogger ... again! Time is not on my side these days but I've snatched a few hours in the craft room today to make samples for the showcasing of Ooh La La Creations new disc - Shoes in Bloom 2 - which is out on Create and Craft on 23 December. I don't know the time at the moment but will let you know very soon. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do, the colours are so vibrant and there's everything you could possibly need on one disc.

It's exceptionally cold here today and the pavements, and even some of the roads, are just like a skating rink. Thank goodness Mr C is at home today and I don't have to take our 4-legged friend out for a walk.

Hi! I don't think I'm going to have time to make a card to share today so I thought I'd share this photo instead. I took it on Monday while out with my Aunt and Cousin.

This 'washing line' is hanging in a lovely farm shop and restaurant called Loch Leven Larder which, surprising enough, is on the edge of beautiful Loch Leven near Kinross.

The weather wasn't pants on Monday but it certainly is today. It was threatening snow earlier but thankfully, at the moment, we've just got grey skies and gale force winds. Hopefully the wind will keep the snow/rain away.

I'm having a day in the house trying to catch up on things that need done. I'm just going to have some lunch then I suppose the ironing board will have to come out. Hugs x

Hi everyone! I had a fabby day out with my friend on Friday. Didn't actually buy very much but it was great to catch up. Saturday I was meeting up with 3 friends whom I've known for 40+ years. We decided to have our Christmas get-together earlyish this year in case we had the same bad weather as we experienced last year. Presents and cards have been duly swapped ... how organised are we! Sunday was a family day as it was our son's birthday so we all met up for lunch and had great fun. Today I'm off to see my aunt as she wants me to take her to M&S for some Christmas shopping. Seems like I'm never at home but it beats working any day. It's the best job I've ever had! Hugs x

Brrr, it's a bit chilly here as well as being grey and miserable. Looking at the forecast this morning there would appear to be snow just a bit further north - let's hope it stays there for a good while yet. I've also got the sniffles today and don't want it to develop into a full blown cold so I'm just about to make a cuppa and take a couple of paracetamol to try to stave it off. I mean, I've got a day out tomorrow with my friend and a bad cold sure can hamper a bit of retail therapy!!! Mr C is snuggled up in bed as he's on midnight to midday shift and the dog is snuggled up UNDER the bed!!! What a great excuse I have to be upstairs in the craft room.

Home Again, Home Again

Hi peeps! What a fabulous holiday Mr C and I have had. We went to The Phantom of the Opera which I enjoyed immensely but unfortunately it wasn't Mr C's thing. Before the show we had lunch at the Canteen in Covent Garden. It was delicious. The Christmas decorations in Regent Street are to be seen in real life and my photo doesn't do them justice. Covent Garden was spectacular as well. As you can see the weather was great with blue sky and sunshine. Here are a few photos I have to share with you. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be back blogging again. Boohoo, this is the last full day of our holiday. Our friends are taking us back to London. The main events today are that Mr M & Mr C are going on the London Eye and Mrs M & I are going to Harrods. Wow, what a beautiful morning, the sun is shining and it's mild, such a change from the cold wind and very heavy rain we had last night. Before I go any further with this post I want to say sorry for the rotten photo. I hate having to take photos in artificial light as I never seem to get them clean and sharp and there never seems to be enough daylight just now anyway. Been in Livingston today with my daughter who was doing her Christmas shopping as she's on holiday. She was very lucky as she got nearly everything she wanted - and didn't pay the full price for anything!!!

It's got quite cold here tonight and the wind is blowing a hoolie. Once I've done this I'm cooking tea, getting the wood burner going, tv on, knitting out and feet up! Poor Mr C, he's working! Hugs x

I love those little boxes as they are so easy to make and perfect for putting little gifts in, especially as Christmas is just around the corner. I hope you enjoy the tutorial and I'd love to see what you make.

Material Required :

5x5 inch square of designer paper

4 7/8 inch square of designer paper

ruler

pencil

scissors

bone folder

elements to decorate

The finished box measures 2 3/4 inches square. I have used good quality paper to make this size of box as card is too bulky. If you wish to make a larger box just increase the size of the squares, making sure one is slightly smaller than the other

Method :

Stage 1

find the midpoint of the square

don't worry about pencil marks as these will be covered over when the box is complete

Stage 2

fold corner to midpoint making sure that folds are sharp

Stage 3

take folded edge to midpoint

complete all other points until the paper looks like this

Stage 4

cut paper along black lines until it looks like this

Stage 5

fold wide point to middle

Stage 6

take folded edge to middle - the two ends will become the flaps

Stage 7

fold flaps together until it looks like this at either end

Stage 8

holding sides, take narrow point up and over the flaps to hold them in place until the box looks like this

complete other end and half of the box will look like this

Complete other square of paper in exactly the same way

Stage 9

finished product

Bad blogger again! I just don't know where the time goes these days.

It's my aunt's birthday next week and when we were visiting an antiques centre recently she spied a little brooch she liked. Luckily my cousin was with us and she distracted my aunt and I was able to buy it for her. I made and decorated this little box for the brooch to go in. The box is great as there's no glue needed and very little cutting - just so easy! Hope you like it. Hugs x

All Tired Out

My friend and I had a wonderful time in Glasgow. When we were at the craft show last year we ran out of time and didn't manage to see what was in the Christmas Gift hall so this time we decided to do that first. Ooooh ... lots of beautiful stuff and a few things went into our shopping bags for Christmas.

I have to say we were disappointed in the Hobbycraft hall. It's not nearly so big as it used to be and we didn't see anything new or different. It just shows that we both have far too much stash! I confess that neither of us bought anything there.

As we were finished at the SECC earlier than anticipated we popped along to Braehead for some retail therapy. That was great fun and we had something to eat there too. By the time we were heading home the boot was full of goodies! My son and DIL have a flat in Glasgow they use when they are there on business so we stayed there. Oooooh it was great to get the pjs on and feet up with a cuppa! Needless to say it didn't stop us staying up till almost 3am chatting.

After a few hours sleep we hit the shops in town. It was absolutely packed and we didn't buy much but I am pleased to announce that I am now officially finished my Christmas shopping. Unfortunately my friend still has a few things to get but as she is off to Spain next week with her dearly beloved she's hoping to get some bits and pieces there.

Well folks, I'd better get organised for the day and get Mr C out of bed! I have our son's flat key to return this afternoon so perhaps we could squeeze lunch in somewhere along the way! Hugs xx

Oh dear, I'm having a real crisis. My mojo has deserted me and I just can't get motivated. However today I had a little burst of creativity as it's one of our dear friend's birthday on Thursday and I HAD to do something. This design came very easily, which is worrying, after so many barren weeks. Maybe mojo has decided to make an appearance again - on a staged return!!!

Although I haven't been making cards, I have been crafting. The knitting pins have been working overtime knitting little cardigans and jumpers for Christmas presents. It's been nice having the pins in my hands again and there are so many lovely yarns and colours to choose from.

On Friday my friend and I are off to the SECC in Glasgow to the Hobbycraft Fair so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that once I see all the lovely crafty stuff my mojo will return permanently. I'm putting some pennies in my purse just in case anything jumps out and grabs me. We are staying overnight at my son's flat in Glasgow and hitting the shops on Saturday. I'm hoping to get my Christmas shopping finished as I don't have much left to buy - woopee.

Our visitors went home on Thursday morning and I've spent the last few days chasing my tail and blogging's been out the window again!

We had a fantastic time with our visitors but our trip was a bit of a disaster. The train journey to Mallaig was very disappointing as it was pouring rain all the way so we couldn't see the beautiful scenery. We were actually catching the end of Hurricane Katia and by the time we got to Mallaig the rain was coming down in bucket-loads and the wind was blowing a hoolie. Our guest house was good and we managed to find somewhere really nice for our evening meal. Unfortunately the next morning the sea was too rough for the ferry to sail to Skye so we ended up taking the train to Fort William, bus to Inverness and picked up the train again there. The weather was much better by then and Scotland's scenery was on show. We spent a few hours in Inverness which was very enjoyable ... note to myself ... must go back again soon!

Anyway, enough rambling about our wee break. When we got back Mr Postie had been and left some beautiful ribbons I'd won in Pinky's candy. Can't wait to use them, but then again, maybe I should just stroke them and cherish them!

Mr C has been working today and I've been a bit lazy but managed to make 4 samples for Ooh La La Creations new CD which is being showcased on Create & Craft on 25 September and I also managed a challenge card.

A bit of a lazy day today. We originally met the friends we have staying with us in Spain. They still have their house there but, unfortunately, due to health reasons have come back to live permanently in Cambridgeshire. We are all meeting another couple for lunch so looking forward to good food and plenty chat. My mojo is on a roll just now so I'm taking full advantage and seem to be managing a couple of cards most days. There won't be much crafting done for the next wee while as we have friends coming to stay for a week. They are arriving on Thursday and we are all off on a mini break on the West Highland Railway Line. We are going to Mallaig, over to Skye, back to Kyle of Lochalsh then on to Inverness and home again. I saw this on Donalda's blog and am 110% behind what she says. There's shipping charges and there's PTI shipping charges. When we lived in Spain I had several packages from Joanna Sheen and was never charged for postage. If she can do it and stay in business why can't others.

Sorry I've not been blogging recently but we've been off jaunting and I've still been feeling yeuk! I got a dreadful cold just before George and I went off and I'm always left with catarrh which leads to hearing loss and my head feels as if it's wrapped in cotton wool inside a goldfish bowl. (Conjures up a delightful picture eh!) The doc gave me a nasal spray but it makes me feel nauseous, grrrrrr I can't win these days! Not to worry, yesterday I blew my nose and my ear popped and I've been hearing a bit better since then so hopefully I'm on the road to recovery again.

Anyway apart from all that we did enjoy our time away and the golden wedding celebrations (which was the reason we were away) were fantastic. There was a choral group entertained us after our delicious meal and they were brilliant. They did serious songs but also monologues and funny skits. There were two older ladies in the group and they sang the song from the Sound of Music - I am 16 going on 17 except they were 60 going on 70 - what a laugh.

I'm back home but not back to normal just yet. My granddaughter is still on school holidays and although her Mum is at home I've promised to take her a few places - that way she knows she gets spoiled!!! Today we are off to Edinburgh for a trip round the Royal Yacht Britannia which is berthed at Ocean Terminal. We are going to the shopping centre first to browse the shops, have some lunch then go on the yacht. May have some photos for you after that!
